About the Game
Story Behind the Game
I was inspired to develop this game after participating in the AI Ethics Bowl for postgraduate students in the Humanities, Engineering, and Computer Science at AMII (Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute), where we engaged in a structured debate designed by Prof. Geoffrey Rockwell.
After the first version was designed in December 2024, most players requested the ability to debate not only against predetermined responses in the database, but directly with AI.
This game is built on the AI Ethics Bowl framework and my own pedagogical approach to helping students of AI Ethics—and other professionals (non‑philosophers) entering the field—learn a discipline that has historically been shaped by professional philosophers.
Anyone teaching or learning AI Ethics may find this game helpful as a way to simulate a human, embodied experience of ethical reasoning: taking a position, defending it, facing objections, and refining arguments.
My participation in the From Data to Decision Fellowship enabled me to learn a lot from graduate courses in Computer Science, including Knowledge Graphs, Natural Language Processing, Deep Learning, and Reinforcement Learning. I have wholeheartedly brought those skills into creating this game and will continue to improve it.
